Two pear-cut natural amethysts of matched Siberian color — 4.20 carats between them — hang from articulated 18k yellow gold links that move with the jaw. February's stone, cut deep enough to hold its purple in candlelight.
The craftsmanship
Each amethyst is bezel-wrapped with a knife-edge rim rolled thin so the stone, not the metal, carries the silhouette. The two-link articulation is tuned to swing through fifteen degrees — enough to catch light, not enough to tangle hair.

Gold care: Clean gold in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, brushing gently with a soft toothbrush, then pat dry. Remove before swimming — chlorine attacks gold alloys over time.
Soft gemstone care: Clean colored stones with warm soapy water and a soft brush only — skip ultrasonic and steam cleaners, which can stress natural inclusions. Store pieces separately so harder stones cannot scratch softer ones.

Lever backs close over the wire with a sprung catch — the standard for drops at this weight — and ours are load-tested to five times the earring's weight.
Is amethyst durable enough for regular wear?
Amethyst is quartz, 7 on the Mohs scale: fine for evenings and events, though keep it from gym bags and beach sand. Care guidance below.
